About the App

What is the Patient Handover App?

A Power Platform solution that digitises the clinical handover process using the SBAR framework. It replaces paper-based handover sheets with a structured, auditable digital workflow that runs on devices clinicians already use.

Which NHS systems does it integrate with?

The app integrates natively with Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint. It can also connect to NHS systems via secure APIs and Power Automate connectors.

Is the app available on mobile devices?

Yes. It runs on iOS, Android, and Windows devices through the Power Apps mobile app or via a web browser, designed for bedside use on tablets or smartphones.

Deployment & Requirements

What are the technical requirements?

A Microsoft 365 tenant with Power Platform licensing, Dataverse for secure data storage, and Power Automate for workflow automation. Most NHS Trusts already have this as part of their Microsoft agreement.

How long does deployment take?

A typical deployment takes 4–6 weeks, including configuration, testing with a pilot ward, user training, and go-live. Larger Trusts with multiple sites may take 8–12 weeks for a phased rollout.

Can it work alongside our existing handover processes?

Yes. We recommend a phased approach where the app runs alongside existing processes during the pilot period. This allows clinical staff to build confidence before the full transition.

Compliance & Data Security

Is the app compliant with NHS data security standards?

Yes. Data is stored in Microsoft Dataverse within UK data centres. The app inherits your Microsoft 365 security controls including role-based access, audit logging, and encryption at rest and in transit.

How does it improve CQC compliance?

It creates a complete audit trail of every handover, providing evidence for CQC inspections that structured, SBAR-compliant handovers are taking place consistently.

Do you provide training and ongoing support?

Yes. We provide comprehensive training for clinical champions, IT administrators, and end users, plus post-deployment support packages with helpdesk access and regular updates.
